I WAS LOOKING ON ALL THE JOB SITES AND COULD NOT FIND A TRUE METROLOGY JOB LISTED! I'M IN CALIFORNIA,MAYBE THAT THE PROBLEM!
Yeah pretty much. Send me copy of your resume. I might have something for you. mrrob007 at yahoo dot com
That would be a good addition to this site. A resume and job openings page(s)..
There are a couple of places I know to look for people and postings.
www.ecalibration.com
www.CalLabMag.com
There is a Job Listings Forum here and inside of it there is a place to put your resume. I think the problem is there just aren't as many companies advertising jobs, but that doesn't mean they aren't hiring.
I had looked for a while for jobs in West Virginia but can not find a single calibration lab down there. Anyone ever heard of a lab?? Or just like to make some random comments about why West Virginians don't need a calibration lab??
Back when I was job hunting, there was a standard set of websites I regularly checked:
Monster[dot]com (of course)
ecalibration[dot]com (as already mentioned)
Destinygrp[dot]com (had a lot of defense related jobs)
https:_/_/chart.donhr.navy[dot]mil/index.asp (Navy jobs)
careerbuilder[dot]com (kind of like monster, but I didn't like as much - and they put me on junk mail lists)
Pmel[dot]org (usually had some PMEL jobs)
Here on this website
BAE Systems (sometimes will have listings for Saudi, etc.)
I also have a lengthy set of websites for searching for international jobs (not specializing in PMEL), so I won't bother with them here. But if we wanted to put up such a set of links, maybe an international job search engine might be useful
I would concur that it would be a nice feature to have a list of links to the various places on the web where calibration jobs are normally to be found. I'm not looking now, but you never know when you will be; and having such a list for such a small field as ours would be a great service to the PMEL Community.
I took the NCSL directory, verified contacts over the phone and then sent resumes off. That was many years ago, it worked very well.
