I will confess right up front that I've never been much of a football fan (or any kind of sports). My son got me into it.
I was looking the top tens and greatest of various things the other day, and saw the greatest football play of all time (I don't know if that meant any game or super bowl, as this one was in a super bowl).
No cheating by looking it up, but I'd be interested to see what everyone thinks is the greatest football play of all time. I'll wait until everyone has had a chance to answer, then put what I saw was claimed to be. Or if in everyones opinion I should put this one up, then we can debate it. It was definitely a great play.
Everybody knows that the greastest play ever was Al Bundy's 4 touchdowns in one game back in high school...
That or the Immaculate Reception...
The 1967 Super Bowl or "Ice Bowl" between the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers.

As I said, I am not much of a football fan, my son has gotten me into it in the last few years (I have an awesome story of how we got box seats at the Cowboys Patriots game in 07, drove to the game in a Cadillac rental, flew down from NH to TX for the game - all for about total trip cost of ~$300). If anyone is curious, I'll post the story. It was totally cool.
Back to topic... I saw some of the great plays in the Youtube video, that the announcer said were truly great plays. But he said by far, this particular one has to be the greatest.

Okay, let me go ahead and post what the NFL Network says is the greatest play ever in NFL history.
CORRECTION: I just re-watched the video clip, and it was the greatest play in Superbowl history, not all of football. Sorry for that inaccuracy.
I am not particularly trying to incite anything, just conversation. So here goes....
According to the NFL network (if I can get this story right) it was during the New England Patriots Superbowl game against the NY Giants near the end of the game, when Eli Manning still managed to get off a pass that he should never have been able to complete as he fought free from numerous Patriots defensive players. He was able to get the pass completed to David Tyree, who was a special teams guy who had not caught much during the season. Then Tyree caught the football on the top of his helmet.
It was kind of a miraculous play - the underdog team going against one of the winningest seasons in NFL history (maybe number 1). Underdog little brother of Peyton Manning came into his own throwing a pass he should not have been able to make, and it was caught by a player who should not have been able to catch it.
I apologize that I'm not prepared for an intellligent sports debate on this, as I am not too knowledgeable on football.
Not even close, The Manning pass is an easy pick because it happened recently and it allows some people to still claimthe Patriots were 'the greatest team ever' in a season where they were caught cheating.

I would say this play is top five. . . . . but what about Jon riggins running for the game winning touchdown, or the "raiders fumble play". . . . . . . . . and nothing makes more bloopers then Garo Yepremian . . . . . in slow motion this play is nearly 5 minutes long.
Not a super bowel but anyone interested in great football plays. . . . check out boise st vs oklahoma. . . . . . . . in the 2007 fiesta bowl. Boise st pulled every trick play in the book to beat a nationally ranked team. . . . . . it was the greatest game I have ever seen.
