I'm having an issue with the 5520A cal and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and knows a solution.
When I zero the calibrator I get two error codes: 399- Fault during DVZS & 309- Cal try to null failed. The service manual doesn't have any troubleshooting information besides running the diagnostic test (which gives me the same error codes) and a list of the error codes. It doesn't even explain what these faults mean or how to fix them.
Can anyone help? :mrgreen:
Call Fluke Service center in Everett (888-99FLUKE) for help determining what module is bad and do a module exchange with them.

Looks like someone will be spending about $7500 for a Fluke repair.
I had a similar experience with a 5500A, but luckily we had another one that we could swap out boards with. We narrowed it down to one board and was able to mail just the board back to Fluke and swap it out for a little less than $2.5k. We then calibrated the 5500A ourselves afterwards to store new calibration constants for the replacement board. (If you are able to do a board swap, be prepared to do a full recalibration yourself, otherwise it's not worth it to do a board swap and then send the calibrator off to be recalibrated.) And if it takes more than one board swap to repair the unit, then it gets expensive in a hurry :-o and it is cheaper to send it to Fluke for repair and calibration.

I smell a scam or possibly scamola.
Spoke too soon, got over it with a zero routine, discovered it is important to use a good copper short rather than short pomona cable for the 20A to common connection.
I know a great new source for support of Fluke calibrators. If interested drop me an email.
Stupid question but where do you buy the "good quality copper short" ??
have some solid wire, about 14 ga. I picked up a piece of cable that had a bunch of that making up a larger wire, not sure the source-utility company maybe, the piece was about 8 inches long and probably weighed a pound. Pulled out a strand & bent to fit, have to use on terminals that stick out and can be srewed down.
Agilent makes one called a 34712A but it has the coverings over the pomona tips but is handy for 34401A and meters with equal spaced recessed connectors. There seems to be 2 different spacings on the various meters I have handled.
