I heard some news today about a rather large company who has been buying up various Test Equipment related companies recently is in the process of purchasing an asset management company and was curious who uses what software out there.

Using homegrown MS Access based program now, but thinking of going to Cybermetrics GageTrak SW. Anyone ave any experience (good or bad) with GageTrak?

I used GageTrak when I worked in a lab in a manufacturing plant. It was a good Access-based software, easy to maintain and easy to use. If you have specific questions, I will answer them as best I can.

Working for the AF now, we use PAMS.

It REALLY scares me that the one we use is in that list...... TIMMS btw. Great software, 15 years ago.

I thought about putting CALMIS in there as a joke and see if anyone recognizes it.

I've only heard stories about it and seen the leftover STACKS of those enormous floppy disks (back when floppy disks were still floppy).

If you are using the specification tracking system (SpecTrack) in AFCAV, you're using one of the MudCats applications.

We developed a 100% web based system for a customer. It is a hybrid  asset management systems tracking divisions, people and location assignments to assets with a change log tracking who changed what and when.   With tracking for Due Calibration, Preventive Maintenance and quotes / work approvals.

Over the years we have added, e-mail notification, remote cal module, and most recent an auto-QA saving time and money.

To be honest there are just to many features to list.

PS.. I know CALMIS..  and it had tape backup.. 

I have no vested interest, so this is purely a personal opinion; but one of the good packages I think is Gage Insite by Indysoft.  Maybe that could be added to the survey?

Mike, you are the 2nd person to point out that CALMIS had tape backups (and even TIMMS did at first now that I think about it- then zip disks). Wonder what all those floppies went to if they weren't for CALMIS? Might have been "automation" software, LOL.

We used to put reports sent to Redstone on the floppy disks.  When I first go to the field we swapped out sections every 3 months and had to work PC, Production Control.  It was hilarious now that I think about it, when you got good at processing the forms you could be a good 20 units past the screen.  You could walk away and come back and the screen was still trying to catch up to the data you typed in.

MRD.. Yep. type, type, type..  take a coffee break...

Randy Person wrote an application they used in Korea to do the IMRF Roll-up using the modem in the TACCS (I think it was).  I worked in operation and knew how the whole system worked. 

They also used the system to place teams on alert. I learned how to write a batch file, and tell CALMIS how to que the batch file for future execution.  Those of you who where the there when I PCSed may remember being placed on alert as my plane was taking off.

I was out of there by 93.. I left in 92 I think It was a long time ago.

I was all the way north, Camp Casey I believe.  They had this stupid warriors pass you had to have signed by your company commander to leave the base; mine was signed by me with a great big FOR on the line.

You can thank me for the detailed carrier run schedule.  I got a hold of a copy of JFTR (read it) and milked their TDY funds.  There was a NATO base north of Seoul, if you stayed there you got twice as much for meals; and the bars where a short subway ride away.

My company has invested heavily into Oracle, and we have been tasked with trying to get the eAM or Quality module to work for metrology. Anyone have experience with Oracle for asset tracking, standard maintenance, and recall?

I like Procal better than others programs I had used maybe we should also add Procal to the survey. the V5 means version 5
