Title: Spectrum analyzer for LF section
Post by: Whoseywhatsit on 01-08-2017 -- 22:48:41
Looking to upgrade our LF section and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions/recommendations for a good low frequency range spectrum analyzer. Thanks

How low of frequency?  Like sub GHz?

There is an HP 35665A that I feel is a pretty good unit.  DC-102 kHz spectrum analyzer for the most part.

I have used and liked the older 85XX series HP spectrum Analyzers. Unless they were periodically realigned about 1/2 of these won't meet spec but many from this series have a self-cal/self diagnostic function which is very useful if you are buying used and want to get an on-the-spot idea of the condition.

I think the low end for these is around 10Khz.

Below that you might be looking at a Dynamic Signal Analyzer.

The HP 3588A and 3589A are still pretty good instruments. I also really like the HP 89441A. It has an LF section. Can't remember bottom frequency specs, but it is a nice analyzer.
