Updates to the site

Well, there's been some changes to the site lately and I thought I'd mention them before anybody thinks somethings wrong.  Also, in case you do run into problems please let me know in the bug report forum.

I updated the core forum and CMS software which really should be transparent to the user, but you will see some differences in the colors and fonts.  This is due to better integration between all the parties.  Most of this was brought about while I was optimizing the site for the search engines.  I had cobbed some patches and updates that weren't really meant for the version of postnuke that we were running, so some odd things were going on behind the scenes (some of which don't impress search engines).

While I was at it, I was poking around the forum private message interface, and it is waaaay better than the postnuke.  So, I went ahead and made it the default message board.  The downfall is that all the private messages in the old system aren't accessable.  I am still working on finding a script that will copy them to the new system.  For now, if there is something you have to have, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Ok, well, I think that is about it... hopefully that will do it for a while.  Remember I am always looking for suggestions on how we can make the site better.  So, think about it and post them in the suggestion forum!

OK.  If you had any saved private messages, they should be back.  Please have a looksee to make sure that I didn't screw anything up when I made the changes.  It's possible that some might show up in the wrong place, or not at all.  Mine all made the move, so I'm hoping that they all went that smoothly.

The way this new message module works, is that the message will stay in your outbox until it is read by the recipient.  If you delete it from your outbox before it has been read, it will be like that message was never sent.  You can also edit it after it's been sent and before it's been received this way.  After it's been read, it will show up in your sent box.

There are limits on all these boxes, so check them from time to time and make sure they aren't too full.

Also, you may receive an e-mail when you receive a new message.  This setting can be disabled in your profile.  I believe that it is on by default, so if you don't want the e-mails, you will need to turn it off.

Let me know if there are any problems with the new messaging system.

Thanks
Jesse
