Job Description: Calibrates, analyzes, repairs and modifies highly sensitive and complex test equipment, precision electronic and electromechanical recording, indicating, and measuring devices.  Develop techniques and procedures for calibration and certification tests as necessary.   Updates the Management Information System (MIS) and documents all aspects of calibration activities in accordance with Department practices.  Recognized technical expert within the calibration laboratory.  Performs with minimum supervision and technical assistance, maintaining strict adherence to quality standards.  Insures that all activities are performed in a safe manner and works to achieve the department operational goals.   Work may be done without established procedures.  May assist in directing work, assigning and outlining tasks and checking work correctness of other employees.

Required Skills:  
Minimum of ten years calibration experience in a Military, Commercial or Private Industry Calibration Laboratory. 

Technicians should have a better than average understanding of RF/Microwave and Electronic principles, troubleshooting and repair techniques/skills and better than average computer skills.   

Knowledge of current quality standards for ANSI/ISO 9001, ANSI/Z540-1, and ISO 17025 is required. 

Must be able to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and schematics.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.     

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to carry equipment up to 40 pounds in weight without assistance.

Desired Skills:

Experience and familiarity with calibration database programs and automated calibration software is desirable.

Contacts are frequent within and outside organization on significant matters requiring tact, persuasion and negotiation skills.

Required Education: High School diploma or GED required.

Desired Education:
Graduation from an approved Department of Defense Metrology course or Associates degree from an accredited institution of higher learning is desirable.
