It was caught at a private lake owned by our HOA. It's a sweet spot for people who own houses in our deveoplment. As far as I know, I'm the only one who really fishes out there... :-D

Hey Coup, I went hog-hunting the other night with some good ol boys from right here in Texas. They managed about 1000 arces for this elder lady who didn't want to lease it of cattle. SO these guys pay the taxes on it and manage the deer on it. Well we pulled up tp camp (what a sweet spread!) and got out of the jeep. Saw a couple of nice shooter (bucks) from the 8-10 point range (some still had velvet on the antlers). We most of saw about 30 deer during the course of the night. Anyway, as soon as stepped out of the jeep, something caught my eye. It was a 3.5 foot western diamondback rattler! I pulled out my KABAR and by this time, the snake was under this small yew bush. I pulled it by the tail, exposing the head, and held the head down with the butt of my rifle. I took my KABAR and cut off it's head (not really: the spine was still attached). As i held my blade by it's nearly decapitated head, it was striking the blade of my knife leaving it's deadly venom behind. On man it was awesome! I skinned the snake and threw it in the cooler (I'm having a BBQ this weekend and I love fried and battered snake) and tanned the hide. The head, I left outside to dry, but it started stinking. So last nite I sneaked it in the house and tried to dehydrated it in the oven at 200 degrees. Boy, the smell! Man my wife is still pissed. I post pics of the snake tonite. :-D

Hog hunting is a fun past time. I have not hunted hog in 2 years, but I hope to shoot a nice boar this fall. I never tried rattle snake. I heard it was pretty good. My wife would kill me if I brought a dead animal into our house. Your lucky to be alive ( I mean your wife didn't kill you , not the snake ). Hahaha. I will be looking for the pictures.

That's right. You better watch your step buddy. I hate to find you floating face down in that lake because you made the lady mad. :-D
