Temperature Humidity chambers

Has anyone had problems while useing Vaisala HMP41 (I think thats the part #). Its the ±1% probe with the coiled probe wire.
The probe just wasn't made for large chambers that
require it being remote and far away from the meter.
I was thinking of extending the probe wire with a coupler
female to male if possible. I'm Not sure if the accuracy of the
Vaisala will be any different yet. I'm just looking for options.

Any ideas?

I just tried to extend the HMP46 probe from its HMI41 indicator using a 10 ft CAT 5 cable and a straight through female-female adapter and I didn't notice any change in indication. That makes sense, since from what I understand it is a digital signal from the probe to the display on that model of Vaisala.

I would suggest you contact Mike Johnson at Vaisala 781-537-1040 and confirm this, but it sure looks to me like it will work.

This knowledge may helps us a little too. Thanks for making me experiment with it.

Thanks for the reply. I used the adaptor today and I don't see any difference in readings at all with it hooked up with a good 7 feet of
extension from the probe. It makes life easy. Thanks for the number
also. I think vaisala could have made there probes a little more
field calibration friendly, but thats the way it goes. They are
nice and accurate. A little creative thought goes a long way.
