POSITION TITLE:   PMEL Technician
LOCATION:    PMEL Services - RAF Feltwell
SUPERVISOR:   PMEL Lead Technician
HOURS:         7:00 am-4:00 pm, Monday-Friday (some overtime may
be required)
SALARY:         £23. 87(GBP)/hour

JOB DESCRIPTION:
   
The PMEL Technician performs operations required to calibrate and certify electronic and/or physical/dimensional measuring and test equipment, maintaining traceability to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Air Force Metrology and Calibration (AFMETCAL) Program 562 Combat Sustainment Group (Metrology), or AFMETCAL program approved sources.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

1.    Requires completion of the US Air Force's PMEL school or equivalent, or a minimum of a two-year electronics college or university program, or minimum of four (4) years of related experience working in a calibration facility may be substituted for the completion of the US Air Force's PMEL school.  Applicants must show proof of education/training. 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:   

1.    Proven experience as a Metrology Laboratory Technician in an Air Force Metrology Laboratory.  Experience should include inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling, aligning, calibrating, and certifying TMDE, metrology laboratory working standards and safe work practices and procedures.

2.    Good working knowledge of electronic and/or physical/dimensional principles and theories, troubleshooting techniques to the component level, calibration traceability, metrology techniques and Air Force PMEL laboratory practices, policies and procedures. 

3.    Possess the knowledge required to read and analyze block, schematic, wiring, technical data and logic diagrams.

4.    Demonstrated understanding/experience of maintaining calibration laboratory compliance to ISO 9001:2008 and T. O.  00-20-14 quality standards.

5.    Strong organizational, problem solving and resource management skills.

6.    Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. 

7.    Solid communication and interpersonal skills are essential.   

8.    Must be a US Citizen, with the ability to obtain a passport and be able to acquire and retain a Security Clearance.

9.    Possess and maintain a current and valid driver's license for job locality.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Essential/Typical Duties:
•   Efficiently test, calibrate, repair, modify, certify, and maintain all TMDE IAW TO 00-20-14, the PQM, all applicable governing directives and the contract for which the PMEL has responsibility.
•   Support maintenance of EMERGENCY or MISSION ESSENTIAL TMDE IAW the requirements of TO 00-20-14, the ACC PMEL contract, and the PMEL Quality Manual (PQM).
•   Ensure the availability of and compliance with all applicable TOs, instructions, and directives necessary when calibrating and maintaining TMDE.
•    Perform training as required to ensure sufficient task competence to meet customer mission requirements.
•   Provides on-site PMEL calibration support when required to meet customer's needs.
•   Adheres to all directed  measures in ensuring  good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage (FOD) awareness/prevention, Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) control/awareness/prevention and safety practices are performed at all times.   Monitors laboratory environmental to ensure compliance with TO 00-20-14.
•   Follows proper PMEL Automated Management System (PAMS) documentation procedures.
•   Supports and calibrates PMEL working standards that require periodic calibration ensuring maximum service capability.   Ensures PMEL TMDE requiring unscheduled maintenance is immediately removed from service and scheduled for calibration/repair with a properly documented AFTO Form 350 tag and/or work order.
•   Ensures PMEL TMDE Periodic Maintenance Inspections (PMI) are completed as required and documented.
•   Ensure Lead Technicians and higher PMEL management are aware of limiting factors affecting performance or quality.

Non-Essential Duties:
•   Perform other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Occasionally requires: Stooping, Kneeling and Climbing

Often requires: Standing, Sitting, Walking, Talking, Reaching, Pushing,
Pulling, Talking and Hearing.

Lifting/Moving Requirements:
Must have the ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds (lbs. ); must have
the ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements when
calibrating certain TMDE.

Environmental Conditions:

Normally works in an environmentally controlled work area.
