Well, I'd just like to welcome everybody to PMEL Forum.  I'm pretty excited about it and I hope it is to everybody's liking.  Please feel free to post in the suggestions area any ideas that you have that will improve the site!  If it can be done, I'll do what I can to make it happen.

Again, enjoy and have fun.

There are only 10 types of people in this world.  Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

This was a great idea and should really help get a lot of information to a lot of people.

Nice work. I suggested to AFMETCAL some time ago that a PMEL Community on the AF Portal would be valuable resource for everyone in the field.

Hope this site becomes just that.

It's about time someone started a metrology related message board. Good job. Although it's mostly Air Force PMEL related, it would be sweet if all branches of service and the civilian world would gather here or on a similar message board to trade technical info, share experiences, trade job openings, and discuss anything related to testing and calibration, ISO 17025, etc.

About me... I was in the Army, but not in TMDE (I had a signal MOS). I am here because the civilian calibration lab I work for has a connection of sorts to PMEL, as they employ ex-military technicians from all branches, and do much of the same sort of calibrations done by PMEL labs, such as dimensional, electrical, RF/microwave, etc., and we even use AF T.O. and NAVAIR procedures for calibrating equipment.

I hope this site takes off...

Well Scott, welcome to the site.

We do have quite a bit of ex-Navy folks, mostly working for the AF now, who are pretty active here.  There are also a few Army types too.  While I  intend on keeping the site designed for the AF PMEL, it is certainly open to metrologists of all types.  (They can't help it if they're not Air Force...hehe)  Hopefully, as the word spreads, our userbase will become more diverse.

Anyhow, welcome again, and enjoy the site.

This looks to be a nice site.
I've been at this for quite a while - graduated the 3ABR32430 in Feb 1970.
Makes me an old geezer, I guess.
My last PMEL job in the USAF was NCOIC, Clark AB Type IIA Q.A.
I'm still working in Metrology in a commercial cal lab.
Maybe we can share some answers.
Got to go read the site...

That's interesting. Airforce hiring all the ex navy techs. Not that the ex navy techs were seeing the writing on the wall.(rats leaving a sinking ship) But hey, they don't really miss us do they?

Cool a PMEL community. ha

I am currently a 3-level stationed at Holloman AFB (sucks right?).  I've only been here for 6 months so far, so I'm pretty new to PMEL.  I am doing good in upgrade training though!  Interesting job...  I didn't know anything about the stuff we do before i joined.  Ive just been really grateful for all the great in-depth technical training.. stuff i can really use when i get out.

Spent a month there one week for a FTD school(AWM-13). They had the biggest surface plate I ever seen in my short career at the time. Put the wall up after they moved it into the building. Might be fun if you could get into some of the missle testing stuff they do out there.
