The hourly wage is pretty low or I expect too much, lol
The other stuff they offer is darn good, but their pay scales for this suck.

You are right, it is not bad at all, for entry level or a little experience.  But if they want someone with a lot of experiencd and knowledge they will have to come up from what they offered me.

what do you figure they should pay.  I currently hold the above position.  I feel the pay is good and the benifits are good.

ok, here is what they offered me.  Since I never signed any kind of disclosure agreemeent, it is not a problem.
  $20/hr, 15% differential, $110 per diem, 8 hrs of ot/week
With the differential, the pay is not too bad.  The perdiem you can make money on, but you cannot count on it as income.  I have no idea about their medical or 401K.  We never got to that.
I thought there was a sign on bonus, but evidently not and relocation was not discussed.
I am looking for some change, but where I work now I make good money and I do like it. So I am not going to back up a fedw years on the payscale.
Actually, we this next year we get a little raise and it comes to about $28/hr, no travel.
I know I am spoiled, but companies try to lowball us and they think they can get good experience cheaply.  I believe that supply and demand should have a little bit more to do with our pay. But that is me, lol
Actually, if they had come up to $25/hr I would have taken it, with the 15% that would have made a difference.

What exactly does 15% differential mean? Is this for hours outside the normal workday?

Jbarrett

It means you get your base pay + 15% as comp for all the travel. It counts for all your hours, not just overtime.
