Hello,
Site looks awesome, keep up the good work. If you are interested in a CMS (Content Management System) instead of just forum's check out PHP-Fusion at http://www.php-fusion.co.uk. It is currently being expanded with the help of a great community. Upon returning from the desert I will be implementing it onto my site (which you will see signatured below)...I bring it up because 1) it is one of the best I have seen, getting better every day and 2) if a community is what you want to build having just a forum will not attract as many people as a place where there is more offered. There is a downloads portion, one which I see could be useful to the PMEL community...made a spreadsheet to help with those Torque Standard calculations...post it for others to use...There is a Links portion for us forgetful people...Conversion Sites, Calculator Sites, T.O. Lookup, Pressure Gage Manufacturer site (if your a K6 troop and cal em you know what a pain it is to look up part numbers). They are implementing a pictures archive (photo gallery)...I see people flooding to see pics of their friends they left behind, or our wild and crazy PMEL parties...another good thing you could throw into the pictures section would be complex equipment setups...e.g. in the 68 degree room where I work we have many pictures floating around to remember how to "hang that fixture". The forums section is not unlike this either. Those are just a few with more features on the way...to reiterate, if a PMEL community is what you want I think implementing one that will suit many PMEL troops in more ways then just forums would be in order...this is a first of its kind...you may have stumbled on another eBay ;)

evit,
I like the looks of that and I will be trying it out tonight.  If I'm going to switch midstream, I want to do it up front with less users to inconvenience.  The 2 forums databases are different so that poses a problem.  Thanks for the input.

Well, I checked out php-fusion, and it seemed to be lacking in some features.  I also looked at php-nuke which I liked, and it even used the same board as this.  BUT, there was a slight difference in databases and I just couldn't get them to merge correctly.  Until I can figure it out or find a script to integrate them, I'm going to look for a CMS that will work with the existing forum.  Otherwise I've got to have everyone re-register.  Plus I know this board is working well so far.

I like the idea of the CMS and sooner or later I do intend to implement something like it here.  I just don't want to start all over from scratch again, if you know what I mean.

Hey Jesse,
Good luck to you. This is where I started my search http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/Content_Management/index.html Once I ran into my previous suggestoin I did not go any further (about three pages in). There are over 450 CMS scripts listed here, with more being added every day. A lot of these advertised CMS are actually "over the net web page builders" Similar to the ones we saw pop up when the net started getting big...About 25% (of the ones I looked at) were what I was looking for and of those only about two or three even came close to having the features I wanted for my page. Anyways, hopefully you can find one burried in there somewhere. Also check out the PHP BB group, they may have a CMS that has transferable database. As for not wanting to have members go through signup agian, I can understand your concern but with only 36 so far it isnt that big of an issue. In the long run doing a little extra work (you and the 36 that will have to re-register) would be worth what this could turn into. Good Luck and let me know if you need any help.

Well, I took the plunge.  This one had some nice features, and it was easily transferred.  It seems a little slow though.  Thanks for the input!

Excelent, I think you made a good decision. Now the hard part...content. Hopefully everyone will participate in adding a little here and there. Keep up the great work Jesse.
