Just to let you know, I've added a small bar that contains a couple of ads to the site.

If you have any comments, complaints, questions, etc... about this, please address them to me in an e-mail or send me a PM.

Any posts in the forum related to the block will be deleted.  Again, just drop me a line and I'll be more than happy to address your concerns.

Thanks,
Jesse

Well, as you have probably noticed, I've removed the google ads and put up a couple of other banners.  These you can talk about all you want.

The reason for the first post in this thread is because google doesn't allow discussion of their adsense ads.  They pay on a per click basis, and they don't want clicks just for the hell of it.  If I posted something like "click on an ad to help support the site", that would be a violation.  That just generates false clicks and I can't blame them there.

At first I thought they were kind of cool, because they were targeted ads.  Meaning that they looked at the content of each page and fed ads that were relative to the content.  So if one forum page was talking about o'scopes, there might be an ad for a company selling o'scopes.  Then after a few weeks of no clicks, it dawned on me that we don't care about stuff like that.  We buy all that stuff at work, and there are specific channels for that (i.e. supply).

While doing my research into search engines and optimizing websites for them, I ran into some information on affiliate programs.  That is what these banners are for.  I can choose the ads I display and for what companies or products.  These will more than likely be things that I use and know to be decent products.  I am free to advertise them as I wish (within reason) and I don't have any plans to put more than one banner on each page.  I hate gratuitous ads as much as the next guy.  I probably will make a separate forum for sponsors so that I can make announcements about specials they are running.  That way you can avoid those posts if you wish.

And finally, I don't anticipate alot of revenue to come from these, as making a profit is not the reason for this site, but really just hope to make enough to cover the costs of running it.  So if you see something that interests you, check it out.  It'll help support the site...hehe.

Thanks,
Jesse
