VDATS - Versatile Depot Automatic Test Station

Have any of you heard about VDATS? I just talked to WRALC not too long ago, and they claim that all test stations will be migrating to VDATS. I highly doubt they can pull this off. I saw a listing of the equipment in the system, and saw some gaps in capability. Some of you start should start getting requests to use PATEC calibrate VDATS next fiscal year, if this crazy idea gets off the ground.

Any thoughts, experiences, or inside knowledge?

I had'nt until now.  I have mixed feelings about the system.  On one hand its great for the AF.  They won't have to dumb down aircraft & weapons to be compatible with the 30 to 40 year old test stations.  On the other its not good for us.  The systems will use a lot less equipment.  Less equipment = less techs.
