Do you think the 3458A is being requested much more often than it should be ?

Yes , There are more meters available and more available to use

It'd be okay as a substitute, but doesn't always need to be first choice

No, I wanted it that way !

Yes, sometimes they say n/a for accuracy when they really want resolution but don't say it and a 3455A or other may do.

I didn't read the question or don't see my choice

Must be the 5720 because the spec I was thinking of cannot be achieved on a 5700 AAF and probably not the NAF which is why the 5200w/5205 was still used on some meters for ACV.

edit: not because the 5700 wasn't accurate enough - because it simply couldn't produce the required level and frequency.

The 3458 is listed as a primary so often because it makes TO writing easier.  It leaves the onus on the tech to figure out the suitable replacements (most of the time an 8840 will get it done!)

What he said. :-D

We often use the Keithley 2000. It's s*$%-hot for a compact bench DMM!

I don't much care for Keithley at all.
A 34401A is more versatile.
It's okay to be ignorant, as you can always ask questions, but there is no cure for stupidity.
