Hi, I am working here in Jeddah at the calibration lab for the Saudi Air Defense Forces.  My OIC has asked me to put out the word that they are looking for resumes to fill 4 upcoming slots due to our lab expansion/upgrade.  They are looking for techs with broad experience from DC/LF to microwave to physical, one or the other or all.

Once my colonel approves any resumes, our commander will direct one or all of the contractors here to make an offer to the candidates.  I'm sorry I can't be specific on pay, benefits, or even a timeline; it depends greatly on your experience and which company makes the offer.   Remember, EVERYTHING is open to negotiation.

The work week is Saturday - Wednesday, 7AM - 2PM.  As well as Saudi technicians, we have Americans, French and Swiss working in the lab, so it's diverse.  English is the language used in the lab.

You can send your resume to me at RSADF_resumes@yahoo.com and I will forward it to my colonel.  To those that have never had any dealings here: the wheels turn very slow! It may be some time before anyone is contacted.  I will try to answer any questions that anyone may have regarding the work or life here, email me at the above address.

Thanks for letting me post this here; if anyone knows of another site I can post this to so more people can see it, let me know.   I hope this can help someone out.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.  Thanks to all the guys that have sent in resumes so far.

Ramadan started today so we're on the worst possible hours, 10AM - 3PM! I don't know how I'm gonna survive the month with hours like that!

I sent a resume to the email listed and it's showing that it's an unknown account! Is there another e-mail?

Kalrock

did you make sure to take the space out of the email address?

RFCAL

this e-mail address is no good. With or without the underscore

MasbateMike

I have received 8 resumes so far, 2 this morning, so the email address is working.
Later today, I will send a reply to everyone that submitted, to let you know I received it in case there is any doubt.
Thanks again to everyone for submitting.

Mike,

Are these accompanied or unaccompanied positions?  Will they be in Jeddah or an outlying facility?

David

MasbateMike

Depends on the company told to do the hiring.  Some contractors allow families, some allow wives only, some are unaccompanied, but let you bring your wife over at your expense.
All positions are in Jeddah.

Hey Mike,

Has there been a decision made regarding when and if you all will be hiring on New Techs.  I emailed your yahoo account and received no response.  Any info you can give would be greatly appreciated.  jasonyoungprofessional@yahoo. com

No decision has been made.  It's Ramadan and the base shuts down today for 2 weeks.  I wouldn't expect any sort of decision for at least another 3 weeks.

These were not idle words, and are pretty much a fact of life here.
Sorry I don't have any better news than that.

Hi. . . a decision was made last week, and I emailed the 4 individuals today.  A Saudi company named JASH will be making the arrangements and offering a contract.

As I stated before, and will state again, EVERYTHING IS NEGOTIABLE, and they love to haggle here.  My advice if you don't like what they offer you, tell them no, and hopefully they'll call you back later with a better offer.  They have American's working for their company here, so they do offer competitive wages and benefits, but they will try to get you as cheap as they can.  Once you are here, it is very hard to renegotiate.  Just my two cents worth.

JASH employees live on the Al Manar compound, which is the old Litton compound.  They get a company car.  Workday is from 7AM to 2PM, Sat-Wed.  I believe they allow spouses (negotiate), not sure about kids, but I will try to find out both.

Thanks to everyone that applied, I will try to contact those that weren't selected to let you know.

Thanks,
Mike

Hello Mike, any chance there are any more openings over there?  I'm retiring from the AF in a few months and ready to relocate overseas.   How is the pay over there, is it more than $85K ? I'm gonna try out the website for Aviation jobs and see what I get.

Thanks,

Mark
