ASQ's CCT exam is a royal Pain...
It being open book makes it harder...

I just took the last one and passed it. I can say that there were questions that required one to know exactly which book it came out of. I used three books and the PMEL handbook. However, after I took the exam someone handed me the CCT Primer from QCI. I could have saved some money just buying that one book. Sure you have missed a couple unique questions, but overall that would have been fine.

The way it's done contradicts the whole idea behind Quality Control...

You can't correct your deficiencies if you don't know what they are...

I know what you mean. It defeats the purpose of testing to not get results back so you know what you need to improve on.

If someone doesn't pass, they give feedback as to areas to study, but even then, they don't tell you which questions you missed.

If you pass you don't have to take it again if you maintain your professional training log. It doesn't really matter what you got wrong does it? It is just an excersize in trivial pursuit.

It's a little important to have an idea what you don't know. Otherwise there isn't a point to taking an exam.

I took the CCT in 2004 and let it expire. I took it just for bragging rites.
I made the same pay I got before I passed it and made the same after it expired.
The CCT covers everything, I've worked in K1, K3 & K8 and keep up the Electrical Standards Lab.
I never worked in Force, Flow, Optics, Pressure or Vacuum.
