Agilent is splitting their Life Sciences and Test & Measurement divisions into two companies. Life Sciences retains the Agilent name.......

Any bets on the new name for the Test & Measurement side?

Considering that Hewlett Packard plans to focus on making printer ink, perhaps the new company could be called Compaq?

Just as long as they don't merge with any of the other quasi major test equipment manufacturers, I really don't care what they call themselves to be honest.

But it would be cool to have quality HP test equipment again. All of ours is slowly dying and/or being replaced with cheap junk. Half the time it is cheaper to buy a new one than to try and repair the broke one. Disposable test equipment, who would have thunk it?

My money has the test equipment side being purchased by Danaher in the next 12 to 18 months.  Any takers?

I'm surprised that Danaher hasn't been stepped upon for controlling to much of the market...

Considering that Agilent outsourced virtually all of its manufacturing offshore, I don't think it matters what they call themselves anymore. The engineers in Phoenix won't even discuss anything with a serial number starting with CN, because it isn't really repairable at all.
Sad really.
How long did Agilent last? 14 years?

I think it's because there are still places like Simco for cal and assorted little equipment manufacturers still chugging along.

They already have the service contract for Agilent, so it isn't a big leap from there.
