I was at MSC today and I talked with Carol Singer, the publisher of Cal Lab Magazine.  Sense the introduction of Measure she has experienced a drastic reduction in the number of people submitting papers / articles for publication in "Cal Lab Magazine."

I know many of you read these articles and some of you have even been fortunate / good enough to be published in here Magazine.  I personally see Cal Lab Magazine as an invaluable resource to the Calibration and Metrology industry as a whole.  You will find Carl at every MSC and NCSL show giving away free copies of here magazine to everyone at the show (normally a $50 dollar annual subscription).  She has been dedicated to this industry for many years, putting out the only magazine dedicated to Calibration Labs.

I do not want to see Cal Lab Magazine fade away into obscurity, because we stopped submitting quality papers for publication in Cal Lab Magazine.  I will personally write a paper and submit it for publication, and I will ask all of you, to do the same.  Pick a topic you have in-depth knowledge of, write a paper and submit it for publication.

If you are having trouble coming up with good topics, then go back to the basics.  I personally feel we need some good how to papers detailing how to properly make a measurement.  Many of these new technicians do not know how to check simple things like over shoot, under shoot, aberrations, and what knot.  So, some well written "Getter Done,,, Right!" articles, along with those theoretical, uncertainty analysis  and process papers are greatly needed.

And if you do not have a subscription to this magazine, get one..
